Facebook, Telegram and Signal Looking to Issue Own Crypto Soon

Social media giant Facebook, through its acquired WhatsApp, will be one of many internet messaging platforms that will be looking to setup its own crypto payment service. According to The New York Times, the messaging platform WhatsApp could be utilised to Facebook’s own crypto currency and currently has over 50 engineers working on the project.

Telegram is also working on a similar service. The payment transfer service will be backed by its own digital currency called Gram and is 90% complete. Expect more details soon! And, to no surprise, Signal, a privacy messaging application, has raised $30 million to back its digital mobilecoin. Signal is looking to raise $30 million more.

It is more than clear that the race has begun to find a trusted, peer to peer messaging service that can be used to transfer value. Who will win the race? Well, its up for grabs!!
