In a surprising move, Coinbase Pro, has listed Ripple (XRP) for trading as of the 26th February 2019. Deposits were initially permitted on the 25th of February 2019 with trading pairs in XRP/BTC, XRP/EUR and XRP/USD available. Availability for retail customers for the purchase of Ripple (XRP) has not yet been detailed but will likely be available in the not too distant future.
The full official announcement by Coinbase can be found here. Currently there is a lawsuit in California (CA) the with regards to the legal status of the XRP payment cryptocurrency. Whether being classified as a security or a non-security has yet to be determined.
