Bitcoin (BTC) futures, on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME), have been plunging lower, ever since they had been launched on the 17th Dec 2017. Tomorrow, 30th Nov 2018, they will expire at its lowest level since its launch. With this in mind, one has to reconsider if the sceptics were correct. Was the accelerated launch of futures designed to control Bitcoin’s (BTC) growth? There can be no doubt that, futures are a powerful instrument in terms of providing price discovery, and, that they encourage price stability. This is needed in all emerging markets. This is also reminder, that the market is still young. Therefore, as the decentralised asset continues to mature, its fair value has yet to be determined.
